Planning for Your Custom Car Show Display Board

Digital or Physical?

Your first decision is deciding whether you need a digital or physical board.

  • Digital boards are designed completely custom for you, formatted for printing up 20"x36". The file is normally completed and delivered digitally via email or Etsy digital download. Digital file completion is normally completed in under a week. This is highly dependent on your needs, approval, and communication. Holidays can lead to longer turnaround times.

This is an economical way to have a custom creation without the commitment of a physical board. Once digital delivery is completed, you simply find a print shop of your choosing, print, and frame. Voila! You have your board.

SBGFX offers print services to meet these needs for an additional fee. SBGFX uses a professional quality print lab that specializes in conservation of color and quality. Pricing for images printed will exceed your standard retail services as we use the highest quality papers, inks, and print methods to enhance your image.

  • Physical boards are provided by SBGFX. Our high-quality, professional standard boards are made with 1/16" aluminum sheet with finished edges and 0.125” radius corners in standard sizes: 8"x10", 11"x16", 16"x20", & 20"x36". Turnaround for physical boards are 14-30 days. Once the digital design is approved, shipment of the board begins and your board will be delivered straight to your front door.

Do you hire a professional photographer?

In a perfect world, we would all be able to afford a professional photographer but that's not always the case. Especially with our busy days, sometimes we just don't have the time.

Can I use my cell phone?

YES! Absolutely. While they may not be equivalent to a pro session, our modern day technology has put photography into the hands of anyone who wants to take a picture. Listed below are a few helpful tips to make those photos a little bit better, for me and for you.

Most modern cell phones can be set up to take high quality photos in your camera settings as well as what is called RAW images. A RAW image gives the creator full control over settings and provides the ability to cover information that would normally be lost in JPG (standard) file. Please reach out if you would like assistance in setting your phone camera up; these files will be larger in size and take up more storage space than normal in your phone.

  • Recommended quality 300ppi

  • Avoid busy backgrounds & clutter, no fun urban settings, buildings, trees

  • Depending on the color of your car, the sky makes the perfect backdrop

  • Clean your car. I know this sounds like common sense, but you would not believe the difference it makes in post-image cleanup

  • Take multiple angles: front, back, each side, front quarter panels, back quarter panels, etc.

  • Don't forget the details: Engine, custom work, pinstriping, starlight headliner, custom seats, engraved fuse cover - any custom work that isn't standard and stands out from the rest.

  • Do not clip the ends of the car out of images as this will affect the quality of the image

  • DO NOT submit screenshots; original images only
